Hey, appreciate your contribution to the football discussion. Regarding this piece, I found the weakness section regarding André's height to be weakly argued. Yes, of course, some taller players are poor at aerial duels and shorter players are great at them. We have many of those examples right in the Liverpool squad. It would have been better to explain how he uses his body to his advantage despite whatever deficits that may be inherent to being shorter. For example hypothetically, how he uses his hips to hold defenders off, or how he can ride tackles or that when going for a duel he slightly bumps his opponent before they jump you get what I mean. The rest was informative.
Thanks for your comments Brad. This was not an in-depth piece this was an intro for the average fan that asks who he is. How a player uses his body for aerial duels would be a counterproductive for that fan. His aerial success isn’t great but that’s not how the team is set up either where he is. That can change & be improved by say under Jurgen in the future (should be join of course!)
